Forever reblogging this.

And the fact that there’s more than one company means several people called makes it even better.

I’ve received a lot of letters from artists asking to check out their artwork and their blog, and I’ve noticed that a lot of them openly write unhealthy amounts of negative comments about their artwork, it was super depressing, honestly.  :(
Confidence plays a very very important role as an artist, it’s what helps us learn and grow without the constant feeling of doubt and jealousy!  You are a unique individual who must go down your own unique path, and as scary as it sounds, you can’t rely on others to hold your hand all the way through.  You are the only one who can get yourself to where you need to go, and beating up your artwork is not the way!  Trust yourself and your abilities to make a change, and you can do anything!!

Love your art, love yourself!

I was actually going to write a long post about this yesterday, but this lovely comic sums up all my points perfectly! Artists, please read this! It can be hard to break out of your bad “my art sucks” habits, but you gotta try. I used to do that ALL THE TIME, but a few years ago I made a conscious effort to change and I feel my art is much better for it. It’s not easy, it’ll take practice, but it’s worth it. Love your art!

Sheep used for wool are CASTRATED without painkillers, tails CHOPPED off & throats slit, just for a pair of UGG Australia boots, a wool sweater, or jacket: http://peta2.me/uggtober

People still buy these ugly disgusting things. Even when I tell them about the animals that died for their ugly boots they don’t care.

I don’t agree with ugg boots but this is actually bullshit.

1. Lamb marking (cutting off tails) is done so that the sheep doesnt get flyblown when summer comes. Flyblown is where flies lay their eggs near the anus of a sheep, when they hatch maggots eat at the inside of the sheep colon, infesting it with bacteria which can eventually kill them, slowly and very painfully.

2. Shearing does not injure a sheep, I don’t know about other countries but I’m sure its the same as Australia when if you do not shear them, they DO eventually become flyblown.

3. You CANNOT use wool if it has been contaminated by BLOOD. It cannot be skirted out like poo and urine does by the roustabouts.

4. Once a sheep has had its ‘throat slit’ it cannot be sheared for the same reason as 3. It has no advantage for anyone by killing their livestock if they are in the wool industry.

I don’t care about your decision to hate ugg boots, you probably don’t give a flying shit about mine but DO NOT spread this bullshit information when the wool industry does not work that way.

Peta and their bullshit

You do not have to condone woollen clothing (if you’re vegan/simply disagree with animals being used by humans for clothing even if they are not harmed by the process) but for the love of god don’t resort to slinging misinformation around to get your point across, damn.

we used to take care of a herd of sheep on the farm when i was a kid and all of this is true i can’t tell you how many sheep i’ve seen being sheared like you don’t skin them to get the wool they’re still very much alive afterwards do not spread this ‘ruthless cruelty’ bullshit around please and thank you

The wool industry is a HUGE PART of Australian culture and for you to be slinging around misinformation like the first two comments is fucking disgusting. Why the hell would anyone KILL the thing that makes them money. You don’t die every time you get a hair cut for godsake.

Hey guys! I would like you all to meet Bella. At 4 PM on July 19, 2014, the Humane Society of Mercer County, Pennsylvania received a call about an abandoned dog staked in the woods and left to die. When responders arrived, they discovered Bella, an emaciated boxer-beagle mix, wearing a collar made of knotted fabric and a tree branch. The collar had been tied so tightly around her neck that it had cut through an entire layer of muscle around her neck. After removing it, they also realized the wound was maggot infested and requires immediate attention. The responders fed her and took her to the vet, where Bella was sedated while she fights the infection. After the infection is contained, she will have to endure a surgery to have the muscles in her neck properly reattached.

The town of Mercer, along with Sarah, the wonderful individual who brought Bella to my attention, are raising money to help save Bella’s life and eventually find her a forever home. With the help of community member Carolyn Schumacher and the Humane Society president Sheryl Giles, the community is hoping to raise the funds needed to cover Bella’s medical treatment. So far, estimated costs for surgery and recovery will be $3,500, and only $65 dollars has been raised so far. I know many people on tumblr don’t have a lot of spare change to donate, but even fifty cents will get Bella closer to her goal, and any amount is appreciated.

Even if you can’t donate to the cause, please reblog this to help us get closer to our goal and give Bella the treatment she needs to survive.

The Boxtrolls (2014) | Behind the Scenes

via Animation Magazine:

  • 1 week; the average amount of time for an animator to complete 3.7 seconds of footage
  • 3.5 inches, the cuff-to-cuff measurement of baby Eggs’ sweater (created on an embroidery machine to produce irregular lines, like a hand-knitted garment). His little socks are only ⅝” long
  • 4 scenes per week was the goal for each animator
  • 14 different fabrics were used in Lord Portley-Rind’s white hat
  • 24 kinds of weeds were created for backgrounds by the greens department
  • 55 different sculpts of prop cheeses were made; different scale sizes were needed for wide, medium and close shots

The 7th image… oh man..how do they animate water so that the wave lights animate alongside the character animation?? Is that some 3D printed water right there that they switch out over and over??? A light projection thru glass? Dying to know how it works. Everything about how Laika makes movies is real actual magic

PRAISE BE

When I worked at a fast food restaurant, I did a social experiment.

One day, I asked “do you want a girl toy or a boy toy?” No one went against gender roles.

The next day, it was “do you want a doll toy or a car toy?” Boys got dolls. Girls got cars.

Vocabulary is important.
